Band Tease 2: Band T-shirts for Bands that don't Exist!

Friday May 10, 2013 at The 460 (460 Spadina, Toronto), the follow-up to last year's Band Tease will be going down. Participation in this show is open to all who wish to get their hands dirty and silk screen (or whatever other method you prefer) up some fun fake band T's! Last year's show was the result of all those times the phrase, "that'd make a great band name", came up in conversation and us finally deciding to put our ink  where our mouths are. This year is shaping up to be even better than last! Participation has at least doubled from last year's show, and we are pleased to host the work of some international artists from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where the illustrious Eric Euler (past collaborator/partner in crime and currently working on his MFA in printmaking down South) has taken on the task of coordinating shipment of t-shirts up to the grim, frozen North. He is also organizing a Southern edition of Band Tease, slated for some time in the fall. More details on that one to follow + more details to come for the Toronto event. In the meantime, here's the official call for submissions for Band Tease 2:

First Solo Show!

I am pleased to announce that my work will soon be on display at Brockton Collective ( 422 Dufferin St, Toronto) from Thursday March 21st until Monday March 25 in what will be my first solo show (that's not in a cafe/restaurant). On display will be a selection of never before exhibited paintings as well as some older pieces. A huge shout out to Bruno Sousa and all the hard work him and the rest of the organizational staff at Brockton have done to support emerging artists in the city.
Into Abstraction will be the 4th show in a series of emerging artist exhibitions put on at Brockton Collective for 2013.

2013 Updates

It's been a while since the last post. Updated the Abstract section with a few new works. Been mostly occupied with work and when not working, spending time in the studio. Lots of projects on the go, expect some images of new work/better images of old work + new website in the near future. In the meantime www.BradfordWilson.com has been forwarded to my blog. Since the last post I've also been involved in a few shows at local artist run centres (Gallery 1313, Creatures Collective, Brockton Collective) as well as the recently opened Manta Contemporary in Hamilton (www.mantacontemporary.com). Links to the other mentioned artist centres have been added to the links section on the blog. Also in the works is having the studio space I'm involved in added to the itinerary for the Riverdale Art Walk (http://artistsnetwork.ca/) as well as planning for this year's edition of the Abstract Implications show. Details to come. And if you haven't been, I'd highly recommend checking out Hamilton's monthly art crawl (http://www.jamesstreetnorth.ca/blog/). There's also a great Peruvian chicken place 2 doors down from Manta (http://culantro.ca/about-us/). Enjoy some visual art and then a dash of the culinary arts. Cheers!

Macho Madness!

This past Tuesday would have marked the 59th birthday of the Randy 'Macho Man' Savage, and also the closing ofSavage: cult of personality, pure media + the art of Macho Madness at The White House gallery/studio in Toronto's Kensington Market. Curated by writer, Nathaniel G. Moore, the show was a tribute to that colourful, raspy voiced character who captured the hearts of a generation of pre-pubescent boys (and girls). The opening night, Saturday Nov 12, featured a wide range of Macho themed artworks as well performance, readings and a silly video by the Family Contact boys. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiwtKEWqOy4

I was lucky enough to have an old painting of mine from 2007 up in the show. A fitting tribute to the recently departed Randall Mario Poffo. Macho Man, you'll live on in our hearts and minds, Oooooooh yeah! Here are some pics from the show you all can 'snap into'.

Art at C'est What?

Until the beginning of January I'll have 11 pieces of art up on display at C'est What?, located just east of Church St. on Front. St. here in Toronto. Go enjoy a pint or three and check it out!
Hi-res photos coming soon...until then, a few detail shots of one of the pieces which was going to be on display but, as it turns out, there wasn't enough room to hang it.

A few shots of the studio and current works in progress. The goal is to have 5-6 new paintings finished to hang up at C'est What? (www.cestwhat.com - located at Church at Front St. here in Toronto) along with a few older pieces at the end of October. More details to come!
