Behold, the sleek, clean lines of Format! <a href="http://bradford-wilson.format.com/">http://bradford-wilson.format.com/</a><br />
<a href="http://www.bradfordwilson.com/">www.bradfordwilson.com</a> has now been pointed toward my new Format site. This blog will remain active, and is linked to from the new Format site. I still need to do some work labeling and uploading images, but the new site speaks for itself. Much nicer to look at than the previous iterations. Stay tuned for updates of newly documented and newly created work!B Wilsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17190754989812223351noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7088041107119694140.post-50140524291047132802014-10-29T18:46:00.000-07:002014-10-29T18:46:16.016-07:00Check it out! <a href="http://www.bradfordwilsonart.wordpress.com/">www.bradfordwilsonart.wordpress.com</a> Going to be pointing bradfordwilson.com toward my Wordpress site at some point in the near future. Still need to add captions to the images and do other formatting work, but the layout I find to be a bit better for art-looking than the good olde Blogspot here...at least it will suffice until I build a *real* website.<br />
<br />
In other news, I'll have a piece (<i>Catharsis I - </i>see '<a href="http://bwilsonart.blogspot.ca/p/abstract.html" target="_blank">Abstract</a>' page) in the Toronto Audio Video Entertainment Show this weekend at the Sheraton Centre Hotel (123 Queen St. W), showing with the Brockton Collective crew, alongside some other fantastic work by students of OCAD, York University and Centennial College. <a href="http://taveshow.com/art-gallery/">http://taveshow.com/art-gallery/</a><br />
<br />
Also coming up is this year's installment of the 1000 for $10 show (November 27, Studio Bar, 824 Dundas St. West, Toronto), everyone's favourite holiday art sale! I'll be contributing some fun new pieces for this year's edition. More info on the event can be found over at the show's Facebook page: <a href="https://www.facebook.com/events/576796919114742/?fref=ts">https://www.facebook.com/events/576796919114742/?fref=ts</a>B Wilsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17190754989812223351noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7088041107119694140.post-25309015256349985982014-03-14T06:25:00.000-07:002014-03-14T06:25:03.409-07:00Break-in & Theft @ Creatures Creating A few weeks back our friends over at Creatures Creating (822 Dundas St. W, Toronto) had their gallery/studio space broken into and several works of art stolen. Attached is a flyer with details of the pilfered paintings.<br />
This coming Thursday, March 20 a fundraiser is being held at the gallery to help with repairs and raise funds for the affected artists as well as awareness about the lost pieces.<br />
All work will be on sale for $25 with all proceeds going to Creatures and the artists.<br />
<br />
Come on out and show your support, and spread the word about the stolen paintings.<br />

As promised back in December, here are some images from the last 1000 for 10 show @ Creatures Creating here in Toronto. Included are larger shots of all the work adorning the walls of the gallery plus close-ups of the work I contributed to the show. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported us artists!<br />
As you can see from the images we had an eclectic and funky mix of art up for grabs at an affordable price.<br />
The pieces I submitted are mostly on cigar boxes, with many composed from tape, varnish, ink, acrylic paint and acrylic paint skins. I tend to mix my colours in used coffee cups. The wax coating makes it (usually) pretty easy to peel out the layers of dried paint. I've been saving up for quite some time. There are some larger paint skin collages in the works. I'll be posting images in the 'Abstract' gallery when completed.<br />
Also included in the mix were 2 companion pieces to my long lost 'Stuff', which was stolen from the first Abstract Implications show back in 2010 @ Steam Whistle Brewery. The 2 LED wired pieces had been kicking around in my studio gathering dust for long enough. I am happy that those, along with the other pieces which sold, have found a home out there in the wider world.<br />
Stay tuned for images of new work and here's wishing everyone a happy and productive 2014!<br />

I've been occupied with moving out of my studio space *sob* in favour of saving some money for travel in the near future. I now find myself with a house full of art and a woefully inadequate space to tackle the giant 6x6' canvas that is currently sitting in my dining room. On the plus side, I CAN tackle smaller projects in my bedroom turned studio. A couple 4x5' pieces are on the go AND I've cranked out a bunch of fun, smaller scale pieces for this year's 1000 for 10 show, hosted by Creatures Creating (822 Dundas St. W, Toronto) - <a href="http://www.creaturescreating.com/">http://www.creaturescreating.com</a><br />
I'll be posting some shots of the show/my work in the near future. If anyone is in the area, tonight is the opening reception, featuring over 50 talented artists and 1000 pieces of affordable art. Bring a fat stack of 10s and support us in our quest to bring art to a wider audience.B Wilsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17190754989812223351noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7088041107119694140.post-60638444763686615812013-08-09T10:10:00.000-07:002013-08-09T10:10:05.418-07:00New work up at Insomnia - Bathurst/Bloor As of yesterday I have 5 pieces of work up at Insomnia (<a href="http://insomniacafe.com/">http://insomniacafe.com/</a> - Southeast corner of Bathurst/Bloor, Toronto). The work will be on display to the public at Gallery 1313 (1313 Queen St. W. Toronto) as of this coming Thursday, July 25. The reception for the show will be the following Thursday, August 1 from 7pm-10pm.<br />
The Project Gallery portion of the show will be on display from August 10-15, with an opening reception the evening of Saturday, August 10 from 7pm-12am (or thereabouts ;)<br />
I'm excited to have the chance to work with over 25 other talented artists and offer the public a little taste of the abstract(ed).<br />
In other news, the work at C'est What? (67 Front St. E. Toronto @ Church) has been taken down...and replaced with brand spanking new work! The pieces will be on display there until August 5, at which point I will be hanging some of those new pieces plus some NEW new pieces at Insomnia Cafe (563 Bloor St. W. @ Bathurst) for the remainder of August.<br />

Currently have work up at Gallery 1313 with some other talented folks in this summer's G1313 emerging artist exhibit. <a href="http://g1313.org/">g1313.org</a> - art's up until July 7th!<br />
In other art hanging related news, I'll be swapping the work currently hanging at C'est What? (<a href="http://www.cestwhat.ca/">http://www.cestwhat.ca/</a>) for new pieces later next week. Those will be up until August.<br />
Aaaaaand, when the end of the month rolls around:<br />

<div>
More details to come re: the opening nights for the two shows. We've got quite a few artists on board already to take part in these two uniquely curated shows. This is shaping up to be a lot of fun!</div>
<div>
And to top it all off, I'll have more work up at Insomnia (<a href="http://insomniacafe.com/">http://insomniacafe.com/</a>) at the beginning of August. </div>
<div>
Phew. It's going to be a busy summer!</div>

Stay tuned for uploads of new work and possible restructuring of the website.</div>

Last night was their inaugural exhibition, <i>Spring Fling</i>. The work is up until next Wednesday if anyone who is reading this happens to be in the area. Viewers will be treated to a fun and eclectic mix of energetic art by local emerging artists. It's also looking mighty slick in the space since renovations were completed.<br />
Next Thursday, May 30 is the opening of their 2nd group show, <i>Fatal Abstractions. </i>(7pm-11pm) I'll be showing a few pieces for that one along with a number of other talented artists working in various modes of abstraction. Should be a fun night!<br />

Tonight I had the honour of attending the 100 Prints show tonight at the Palais Royale (<a href="http://www.openstudio.on.ca/100prints.html">http://www.openstudio.on.ca/100prints.html</a>) in place of my esteemed colleague, Eric Euler (<a href="http://www.ericeuler.com/">www.ericeuler.com</a>). He's down south getting his MFA on at Louisiana State University in Red Stick* and could not be in attendance. Open Studio put together a great event with a wonderful diversity of art on display. Even got to see a Kenojuak print! Congratulations to the shortlisted artists and prize winners of the event, including a 3rd place finish for Eric! Here's to one of the hardest working, most positive guys I've had the pleasure of working with. Way to "slay forth", Eric! <a href="http://ericeuler.com/artwork/2836710_Crowns.html">http://ericeuler.com/artwork/2836710_Crowns.html</a><br />

(that's not a question, it's the name of the venue)A little last minute hanging of some art never hurt anyone. I contacted Brenda, in charge of art bookings at C'est What? Brew/Vin Pub Restaurant, earlier last week about hanging some art up in their fine establishment once again. As it turns out, she had a cancellation from one of the artists who was supposed to be hanging work in there this month. I was more than happy to throw a few pieces up in there to fill the space. <a href="http://www.cestwhat.ca/">http://www.cestwhat.ca/</a> - C'est What?; good food, good brews, great atmosphere...and art too! They've even got a couple pool tables. What more could one ask for? 67 Front Street, at Church. Check it out!B Wilsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17190754989812223351noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7088041107119694140.post-90977336661683717132013-04-25T15:48:00.001-07:002013-04-25T15:48:38.291-07:00Freshly documented work! Images of some recent work have been added to the 'Abstract' section of the site. In other news, I will have some new work up on display at Insomnia Cafe (<a href="http://insomniacafe.com/">http://insomniacafe.com/</a> - @ Bloor & Bathurst, Toronto) at the beginning of July. A classy establishment in one of my favourite areas of town. More details to come. And more work to come for Abstract Implications 3, later this summer!B Wilsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17190754989812223351noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7088041107119694140.post-74656501058355663282013-04-05T06:32:00.002-07:002013-05-01T13:31:08.111-07:00Some pictures from the Brockton show Here are a few images from the Brockton Collective show. In addition to Band Tease 2, planning is currently underway for the third iteration of Abstract Implications; a celebration of abstract art in all its myriad forms. At the moment I am working with past AA collaborators to lock down a venue for the show, which will run for 2 weeks toward the end of July or early August, 2013. Stay tuned for more details!<br />

Participation in this show is open to all who wish to get their hands dirty and silk screen (or whatever other method you prefer) up some fun fake band T's! Last year's show was the result of all those times the phrase, "that'd make a great band name", came up in conversation and us finally deciding to put our ink where our mouths are. This year is shaping up to be even better than last! Participation has at least doubled from last year's show, and we are pleased to host the work of some international artists from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where the illustrious <a href="http://www.ericeuler.com/" target="_blank">Eric Euler</a> (past collaborator/partner in crime and currently working on his MFA in printmaking down South) has taken on the task of coordinating shipment of t-shirts up to the grim, frozen North. He is also organizing a Southern edition of Band Tease, slated for some time in the fall. More details on that one to follow + more details to come for the Toronto event. In the meantime, here's the official call for submissions for Band Tease 2: <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Updated the Abstract section with a few new works. Been mostly occupied with work and when not working, spending time in the studio. Lots of projects on the go, expect some images of new work/better images of old work + new website in the near future. In the meantime www.BradfordWilson.com has been forwarded to my blog. Since the last post I've also been involved in a few shows at local artist run centres (Gallery 1313, Creatures Collective, Brockton Collective) as well as the recently opened Manta Contemporary in Hamilton (www.mantacontemporary.com). Links to the other mentioned artist centres have been added to the links section on the blog. Also in the works is having the studio space I'm involved in added to the itinerary for the Riverdale Art Walk (http://artistsnetwork.ca/) as well as planning for this year's edition of the Abstract Implications show. Details to come. And if you haven't been, I'd highly recommend checking out Hamilton's monthly art crawl (http://www.jamesstreetnorth.ca/blog/). There's also a great Peruvian chicken place 2 doors down from Manta (http://culantro.ca/about-us/). Enjoy some visual art and then a dash of the culinary arts. Cheers!B Wilsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17190754989812223351noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7088041107119694140.post-3851324807863023992012-09-04T15:45:00.002-07:002012-12-07T18:13:44.510-08:00<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b>COMING SOON! Curated by writer, Nathaniel G. Moore, the show was a tribute to that colourful, raspy voiced character who captured the hearts of a generation of pre-pubescent boys (and girls). The opening night, Saturday Nov 12, featured a wide range of Macho themed artworks as well performance, readings and a silly video by the Family Contact boys. <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiwtKEWqOy4">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiwtKEWqOy4</a><div><br /><div>You can read more about the show here: <a href="http://www.avclub.com/toronto/articles/snapping-into-some-memorial-pop-art-oh-yeah,65068/">http://www.avclub.com/toronto/articles/snapping-into-some-memorial-pop-art-oh-yeah,65068/</a> and here:<a href="http://booksontheradio.ca/2011/11/06/talking-to-nathaniel-g-moore-about-savage-the-art-of-macho-madness/">http://booksontheradio.ca/2011/11/06/talking-to-nathaniel-g-moore-about-savage-the-art-of-macho-madness/</a></div></div><div><br /></div><div>I was lucky enough to have an old painting of mine from 2007 up in the show. And there's plenty of that right now! Myself and fellow artist, Eric Euler, just finished hanging our show at T.A.N. Coffee on Baldwin Street (East of Spadina) and it looks great! There will be some installation shots to come. Did I mention their coffee is amazing? In other news, the show at Insomnia Cafe (Bloor and Bathurst) has been extended for another month. A few pieces have been swapped out for a silk screen and a lithograph print that I have recently mounted. Pictures of these works (unmounted) can be found under the 'Abstract' section. <div>Also, if you find yourself in the Queen West area be sure to check out some more of Eric Euler's paintings at Czehoski restaurant (678 Queen St. W). </div><div>And last but not least, the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition is on this weekend. I will not be showing work, but friend and studio partner Lex Buchanan will be. Booth 254. </div><div><br /></div>B Wilsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17190754989812223351noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7088041107119694140.post-80228429844893625322011-06-16T06:30:00.000-07:002011-06-16T06:34:53.844-07:00New images coming soon!Sometime around the beginning of July you can expect to see images of some newly documented work up the blog. It's about time! Most of the work shown in Abstract Implications will be recorded along with some other pieces I have not yet had the chance to document. In the meantime, I have work up at Insomnia Cafe (Bloor/Bathurst) with Eric Euler until the end of June. After that the two of us will be hanging more work at T.A.N. Coffee (Baldwin St.) for July/Aug with fresh art being rotated in at the beginning of August.B Wilsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17190754989812223351noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7088041107119694140.post-34338674627235110952011-04-12T08:02:00.000-07:002011-04-12T08:20:02.441-07:00Art heist of the century!<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms'; ">2 pieces of art seemed to have walked away from the Abstract Implications show. A small assemblage I made as well as a 12"x12" painting by David Contin, good friend and talented artist. The real bummer about this incidence is that I had not yet had a chance to properly document my piece. Dave's fine, he knows better. Alas, all that remains to me of this piece is a rough snapshot taken at the opening of Abstract Implications. This post serves as memorial to these brave paintings, lost in the line of duty.</span><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Dq4cg6z7F5Y/TaRr1LjNp3I/AAAAAAAAAFs/D3hkvuL7t4w/s320/190108_10150468293370697_672035696_17624487_6790265_n.jpg" style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 318px; height: 320px;" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5594715198478722930" /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aEvvLJPrvtY/TaRr0zc8TdI/AAAAAAAAAFk/-ZGton7gFes/s1600/Stuff%2Bassemblage%2B-%2BSTOLEN.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"></a></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><b>David Contin</b>, <i>Moondog, </i>12x12", acrylic</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span">on canvas, 2010</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aEvvLJPrvtY/TaRr0zc8TdI/AAAAAAAAAFk/-ZGton7gFes/s1600/Stuff%2Bassemblage%2B-%2BSTOLEN.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aEvvLJPrvtY/TaRr0zc8TdI/AAAAAAAAAFk/-ZGton7gFes/s320/Stuff%2Bassemblage%2B-%2BSTOLEN.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5594715192009969106" style="float: left; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; cursor: pointer; width: 290px; height: 320px; " /></a><br /></div><div><br /><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"> </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"> <b>Me</b>, <i>Stuff II</i>, mixed media on cigar box, </span> approx. 6x8", 2011</div>B Wilsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17190754989812223351noreply@blogger.com0
